I enjoyed my time at CSUN Assistive Technology Conference this year (# CSUNATC17). This year I was able to present on Making AAC Fun and Functional. While I have given local talks within my district, this was the first time I presented at a large conference. It was both exciting and frightening.

Below is a link to my presentation. I wanted to share some of what I have learned about using AAC. In my session, I share about:

  • Making core vocabulary functional for the child
  • Using modeling to promote growth with multiple utterances
  • They use aided communication where the communication partner asks the questions and uses the communication device as part of the exchange.
